Tips for transit passengers: Connection flights at Dubai International Airport DXB
Dubai International Airport is huge – but this doesn’t mean that you won’t catch you connection flight on time. DXB is designed to operate in a way which makes it easy to switch between flights. If you want to catch a Emirates flight the minimum connection time is set to 60 minutes. In case you have a short connection (60-120 minutes) you need to be quick and use the right ways to navigate through the worlds biggest airport. We recommend you to locate your next flight on the nearest screen and note the gate. Don’t just rely on the gate number printed on your boarding pass because there might be changes in the meantime. If you don’t have an issued boarding pass you should go directly to the connection counters. In Dubai International Airport you will see many signs to “Connections”. Just follow them and make sure you take the right way. If you are in Terminal 3 don’t wait for announcements. It is a silent terminal so you won’t hear the name announced. To not miss your flight we recommend you also to not spend to much time in the Duty-free shops. If you want to do some shopping just enter the shops closed-by and always keep an eye on the time.
If you are self-connecting in DXB you need to take your baggage from the baggage carrousels after the immigration desk. So to collect your baggage you need to enter the United Arab Emirates and this means some time for waiting. If you are a national of a country which needs a transit visa you should be aware of complications if you don’t have one. In case you need assistance just visit the “connections” desk before you head to the exit.
If you want to know the exact flight status you can also check flight information with Flightradar. Flight tracking applications like Flightradar24 and Flightaware show you all the important details for your flight.
